We shared the first one with you in 2000. The 2014 survey is based on these fourteen years of accumulated knowledge. With the list of “The 30 Most Powerful Businesswomen in Turkey” we are continuing to reveal the performance of the rising women in the business community. Both the rise of professional executives and the increase in global responsibilities made their mark on this year’s list. The 2014 listings are shaped by those whose fields of responsibility have broadened and whose executive authority has been increased. There are also some striking new names in the 2014 list. These names include Ayşegül İldeniz, Canan Özsoy, Jaklin Güner and İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp.

1- GÜLER SABANCI
Chair/ Sabanci Holding
TL 24.2 BILLION TURNOVER

For the last ten years she has headed Sabanci Holding, one of the largest industrial giants in Turkey. She is one of the most influential businesswomen in the world. In 2013, she oversaw significant actions in the retail group in particular. Under her successful management, the holding has continued to grow steadily.

2- SUZAN SABANCI DiN^ER
Chair/ Akbank
TL 3 BILLION NET PROFIT

She manages Akbank, which ranks 94th amongst the “100 Most Valuable Banks in the World”. It provides employment for over 16,000 personnel. Under her leadership, the bank increased its total assets by 20 per cent to TL 195 billion at the end of 2013.~

3- SERPİL TIMURAY
Executive Board Member-Regional President/ Vodafone Group
15 COUNTRIES - 266 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS

During her term as CEO, she has increased Vodafone Turkey’s income, market share and profitability to record levels. On 1 January 2014, she became a member of the Vodafone Group Executive Board and president of the Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific Region. She is responsible for 65 per cent of the group’s total of 409 million subscribers and 30 per cent of its service revenue,

4- ÜMİT BOYNER
Executive Board Member/ Boyner Holding
9,000 PERSONNEL

She is one of the most influential members of the business community. She manages new investment and financing projects at Boyner Holding, which is one of the largest non-food retail groups in Turkey. She is a founder of KAGİDER and a member of the board of trustees of TEGV and Tohum Vakfı. In 2010-2013 she served as chair of TÜSİAD.

5- Y. BEGÜMHAN DOĞAN FARALYALI
Chair/Doğan Holding
TL 3.3 BILLION TURNOVER

She has been chair of Doğan Holding since 1 January 2012. Under her management, the holding closed 2013
with a market value of TL 1.764 billion. Consolidated revenue rose by 8 per cent compared with the previous year to TL 3.3 billion. She is focused on sustainable, profitable growth.~

6- GALYA FRAYMAN MOLİNAS
President/Coca-Cola Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asian Region
MANAGES 9 COUNTRIES

Including Turkey, she is responsible for nine countries. She is influential in the field of social responsibility. She is board chair of the Coca-Cola Life Plus Foundation. She is a founding member of the Coca-Cola Women’s Leadership Council and chair of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Foundation.

7- GÜLSÜM AZERİ
CEO / OMV Turkey
TL 25 BILLION NET SALES

She is one of the most important professionals in the business community. She spent a significant part of her career at the Şişecam Group, where she undertook several important positions. She has been CEO of the energy and oil giant OMV Turkey since July 2011. It is her strategies which manage a turnover of TL 25 billion.

8- PINAR ABAY
General Manager / ING Bank Turkey
TL 33.4 BILLION TOTAL ASSETS

She has been managing ING Bank Turkey since October 2011. She is the youngest general manager in the sector. Her targets include retail customers and exporters. She is pursuing a profit-focused strategy and has made a difference through introducing innovations such as “personalized interest rates”.~

9- SEMAHAT ARSEL
Board Member/ Koç Holding
TL 2.6 BILLION PERSONAL WEALTH

She is a board member of Koç Holding, which closed last year with consolidated revenue of TL 66.2 billion. Her personal wealth makes her one of the richest people in the world. She is the board chair of the Vehbi Koç Foundation and Setur. She is one of the most prestigious names in the business community.

10- EMİNE KAMIŞLI
Deputy Chair/Esas Holding
TL 5 BILLION TURNOVER

She is one of the founding members of the capital investment group Esas Holding, which has 11 companies in its portfolio. She is responsible for treasury and asset management at the group. She oversees the group’s investments in retailing, foodstuffs, health and the entertainment industry.

HOW WERE THE 30 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN CHOSEN?
- Capital and Ekonomist magazine conducted a preliminary elimination process in order to draw up a list of the “Most Powerful Women” in the Turkish business community.
- The list of candidates was forwarded to the high-level and middle tier executives who make up the members of the CEO and CMO Club.
- A total of 167 professionals from the business community participated by voting in the survey. It was through this participation of the business community that the final list was drawn up.
