New CEO for BASF Turkey
The chemicals company BASF has appointed Dr. Jurgen Barwich as CEO of BASF Turkey and the head of the BASF Business Center Turkey (BCT) Middle East and North Africa from 1 June 2008. Barwich will take over from Dr. Gerhard Schwarz, who has been promoted to Senior Vice President and appointed to be head the Business Center Iberia organization in BASF’s offices in Barcelona and Tarragona.
Dr. Jürgen Barwich was formerly the Director of Production Dispersions for Adhesives and Construction Europe at BASF’s headquarters in Ludwigshafen, Germany. In his new post, Barwich will be based in Istanbul and be responsible for all the BASF Group’s activities in Turkey and the Middle East and North Africa region.
Foreign CEO for OMD Turkey
Glyn Hughes has become the new CEO of OMD Turkey. Hughes previously served as BBJ Carat Media Planning Director in London, General Manager at Initiative Moscow, and CEE Regional Director and CEO of the Initiative Group in Warsaw. Hughes issued the following statement about his new position: “I have honed my leadership skills through the positions I have held at the headquarters of international companies. I am delighted that OMD has given me the opportunity to develop these facets still further and contribute to its role and mission.” Hughes previously worked as European Commercial Director and member of the European Board of Directors at Initiative London.
